Yonadgyr
Yonadgyrs are an invasive species native to the Tero Canyons. Their soft, earthy camouflage allows them to blend seamlessly with the canyon walls and floor, while their small, nimble bodies enable them to slip through narrow crevices and tiny holes in the rock. As the favored prey of the Drosfolon, Yonadgyrs have evolved to be remarkably quick and agile, with their most notable adaptation being their ability to leap across large gaps between canyon cliffs. Each Yonadgyr sports two pairs of tusks; one set protruding outward from their head, and another curving downward from within the mouth like fangs. It is believed that these tusks help them tear apart smaller prey swiftly, a necessity for a creature that spends much of its life being hunted. Their diet consists mainly of smaller Estalons, occasionally including birds or reptiles. While they rarely stray far from their homeland, sightings of Yonadgyrs crossing into the savannah have been recorded, though these wanderers often perish within weeks of leaving the canyons.
Reaching a shoulder height of only 40 centimeters, Yonadgyrs are perfectly sized to dig small, protective burrows deep within the canyon walls, which become safe havens where even a Drosfolon cannot reach. And safety is vital: a single pregnant Yonadgyr can give birth to as many as 45 offspring in one litter. However, the young are left to fend for themselves just days after birth, as the parents abandon the nest. Remarkably, Yonadgyrs reach full maturity in just two weeks, both in size and capability. Locals living within the Tero Canyons have even found ways to domesticate Yonadgyrs, using them as bait to lure Drosfolons into traps, providing both the Yonadgyrs and the people with a valuable food source, as a single Drosfolon can supply enough protein to sustain a regular Eldrane for one to two weeks.
